Cloud services to deliver apps

Global private and public Cloud services will be used for the delivery of communications and collaboration applications from HP and Microsoft.

They will be available firstly in December in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and the United States.

The move is a four-year initiative announced by HP Enterprise Services and Microsoft who will offer private and public Cloud solutions. These are designed to help groups quickly scale new users, as well as move IT resources to innovation from maintenance. Another aim is to change IT to an operating expense from a capital expense.

Customers will be free to choose a Cloud computing system solution that meets their organisation's specialised messaging and collaboration requirements, said Mark Hill, vice-president of Microsoft Enterprise Partner Group.

The solutions, due to be launched globally, include Private Cloud: HP Enterprise Cloud Services--Messaging, HP Enterprise Cloud Services-- Collaboration and HP Enterprise Cloud Services--Real-Time Collaboration deliver Microsoft Exchange Server 2010, Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 and Microsoft Lync Server 2010 productivity applications-as-a-service from HP datacentres globally.
