Rising newsprint costs and falling advertising revenues have prompted a 5p increase in the cover price of weekday editions of the Daily Mail.
The newspaper will now cost 55p on weekdays, following the first price rise in more than three years.
Owner Daily Mail & General Trust (DMGT) said the Saturday edition and the Mail on Sunday newspaper will cost the same as before.
Advertising revenues at DMGT's national newspaper division, Associated Newspapers, fell 9% for the five weeks of June and 7% year-on-year for the 13 weeks to July 3.
The group is hoping the latest increase will offset some of the ad revenue decline and high newsprint costs.
Northcliffe Media handles the publication of regional newspapers of DMGT, which also has a business-to-business service.
