Entries invited for print awards

Applications are being invited for an annual scholarship scheme for talented young people looking to make a career in the UK's printing, publishing and graphic arts sectors.

The annual Print Futures Awards provide grants of up to £1,500 towards tuition fees and other costs for students who wish to enrol in part-time or full-time training courses or degree education.

People who already work in the related industries are also eligible for the training grants, that are sponsored by the British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF), Unite the Union and The Printing Charity.

UK residents between 16 and 30 can apply for the awards using forms that can be downloaded from the website www.printfuturesawards.com. The closing date is April 12.

Graphic designer Ryan Tym, who was shortlisted in 2010, has created the look of this year's awards.

Dale Wallis, BPIF membership director, said: "As we want to encourage and support young talent in the industry, we invited a number of previous applicants to submit their design concepts for this year's Print Futures Awards.

"Ryan's winning design is being used across the communication channels, including the dedicated Print Futures Awards website and application form."
