In a significant piece of news for the print management industry, Gutenberg Networks, an integrated marketing production business has opened its first office in the UK as part of its global expansion strategy.
The growing popularity of the "de-coupling of marketing production" in the television and digital marketing platforms is said to have led to the move.
However, the move is posing a serious threat to print managers, as specialist production management firms are still quite new across other media channels.
PM-style operators are in demand to boost efficiency as well as savings. And thus firms are in a competition to provide a one-stop shop for cross-channel marketing production.
Jon Goulding, chief executive of Gutenberg Networks UK, said: "It's a threat for the print managers because their clients are asking them for broader skills across different channels.
"The networks already have access to a broader range of production skills. However, they have historically found it difficult to pull them all together."
Gutenberg Networks' new UK headquarters has been opened with clients such as Unilever and Philips.
