HP acquires music streaming firm

HP Music streaming

Hewlett-Packard has announced that it has purchased Melodeo, a Seattle-based firm that offers cloud-based delivery systems for music and content across multiple devices.

The news of the takeover was revealed by HP spokesperson Mylene Mangalindan, together with Melodeo vice president Dave Dederer. Neither HP nor the music streaming company commented on the financial details of the acquisition.

Mangalindan said: "Melodeo is one of the only companies with technology to aggregate a consumer's digital media, manage it in the cloud and stream it to the user on any device, along with additional streams of content.

"HP is always on the lookout for interesting innovative technology, especially as it develops its cloud-based offerings."
