HP aims to increase Malaysia sales

Hewlett-Packard is hoping its decision to buy global networking industry leader 3Com Corporation will help boost sales in Malaysia by up to three times.

Amol Mitra, HP ProCurve's marketing director, claims the firm is the only one to have control points for server, storage networking, software and service under one brand, a feature that will help expand its customer base in the south Asian country.

He said: "Asia Pacific is the fastest growing region for HP products with five to six per cent growth annually. We are seeing a continuous market growth of eight to nine per cent annually in Malaysia."

The firm is also focusing on expanding its local partner base and awareness among Malaysian customers, he added.

By incorporating 3Com's network switching, routing and security solutions with its existing HP ProCurve solutions, the company is hoping to entice its customers with a comprehensive portfolio.

Mr Mitra said: "With this integration, customers will be able to simplify their networks to deploy an edge-to-core network fabric for the enterprise and improve IT (information technology) service delivery capabilities."

He added that customers now would find the HP networking environment twice as fast, more secure, easy to manage, flexible and application-centric.

"This will result in faster time to revenue, lower cost of acquisition and implementation, and immediate response to business changes and lower risks," he said.
