HP announces new jobs in Belfast

Hewlett Packard (HP) has announced plans to create new jobs at its Global Centre of Software Engineering Excellence in Belfast.

Although the company has not yet revealed the number of employees it is planning to take on, its recruitment campaign is likely to attract highly skilled technology professionals.

The positions will be based at the new centre, which concentrates on cloud computing products.

The technology hub - which forms part of HP's StorageWorks unit - is expected to help the firm provide its customers with storage solutions such as data protection and recovery technologies.

Currently, the computer technology giant provides employment to more than 4,000 people in Ireland. The latest jobs will be supported by a multimillion-pound investment.

Martin Murphy, managing director for HP Ireland, said: "We have a proud tradition of delivery across software, hardware and services in Northern Ireland and it is fitting that the Global Centre of Software Engineering Excellence should be conferred on our 30th year of operating in Northern Ireland."
