IT giant Hewlett-Packard (HP) is offering aspiring artists practical help as part of a competition that will see new creative video pieces on display at Guggenheim museums in the US, Germany, Italy and Spain in the autumn.
California-based HP has joined forces with YouTube and the Solomon R Guggenheim Foundation for the YouTube Play contest. Experts will pick the 20 best creative video entries to be shown on youtube.com/play as well as museums in New York, Berlin, Bilbao and Venice.
HP tutorials that can help interested parties with their editing, sound and video-making techniques will be available on the YouTube Play channel.
Tracey Trachta, director of marketing communications initiatives at HP, said: "HP is moved by the imagination of digital artists and we want to encourage the creation, sharing and appreciation of online video as an art form."
Richard Armstrong, director of the Guggenheim Foundation and Museum, said: "The Guggenheim, YouTube and HP share a view that creative online video is one of the most compelling and innovative opportunities for personal expression today."
