Hewlett-Packard (HP) has completed its acquisition of California-based cyber security group Fortify Software for an undisclosed sum.
Plans to acquire the privately held firm were announced by HP last month. It said the deal will bolster its application security offerings for businesses.
Fortify, headquartered in San Mateo, specialises in tools to identify and remove security flaws in software and computer networks. Since last year HP and Fortify have been marketing their security technologies as a package.
HP said earlier that Fortify would run as a standalone company until it is merged into the wider software business. Further details of product integration will be announced later, it added.
A statement from the company said: "With this addition, HP will deliver one of the most comprehensive security capabilities for securing mission-critical applications in heterogeneous environments."
The deal is the latest in a series of acquisitions including that of Palm in April for roughly $1.2 billion (£765 million) and of network infrastructure manufacturer 3Com in November for a reported $2.7 billion (£1.7 billion).
