HP has completed the delivery of two Performance Optimised Datacentres (PODs) to aviation giant Airbus.
The pre-configured systems each measure 12m in length, with a capacity the equivalent of 1,000 square meters of a regular datacentre.
They include more than 2,000 HP ProLiant BL280 G6 blade servers configured for storage and networking with built-in software suites and data management tools.
The PODs - one installed in Toulouse, France and the other in Hamburg, Germany - also come with their own power units and cooling system.
Under its contract with Airbus, HP managed all aspects of the datacentre deployment from getting the infrastructure ready and making technology decisions, down to transportation and commissioning of the PODs.
It is believed the high-performance computing system is the 29th biggest of its kind to be deployed in the world.
