HP Indigo launches recycling scheme

HP Indigo is offering a new service to help its customers dispose of waste in an ecologically friendly way.

Under its take back and re-use scheme, customers can return used components such as binary ink developer parts (BID), empty ink cartridges, used imaging oil and bobbin wires.

Some items will be recycled, although BID units and bobbin wires will be sent to Holland for reconditioning and reuse.

The scheme, in conjunction with waste management firm J&G Environmental, is aimed at ensuring used items and materials are disposed of in an environmentally sound way.

HP programme manager Cecile Mesmain said the scheme expanded the company's environmental sustainability efforts.

"We are glad to have J&G Environmental on board as the waste management service provider to execute our programme, because the company has a long-standing history and proven track record in professional waste control in the printing industry."
