Hewlett-Packard (HP) has introduced its fastest and most commercially productive digital colour press, featuring a new ink technology.
The new HP T400 Color Inkjet Web Press is capable of printing up to 5,200 full-colour, letter-size pages per minute - 44% more productive than its closet competitor.
Unveiled at the offices of O'Neil Data Systems in Los Angeles, the colour press - which operates at a rate of 600 feet per minute - offers high-quality imaging with updated printer ink technology.
Other HP products announced during the press event include a magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) system.
The company said that customers can also upgrade their HP T300 presses to the faster T350 platform.
Christopher Morgan, senior vice president of Graphics Solutions Business at HP, said: "With more than 25 installations worldwide, our inkjet web press systems are changing the business dynamics of applications such as publishing, transpromo and direct mail.
"With the significant throughput capacity the new HP T400 offers, customers can now break into a world of true mass personalization and customization and take advantage of substantial new growth opportunities."
