HP has launched the world's first all-in-one workstation, the HP Z1.
The compact work space comes with built-in hardware including server-class processors, a graphics card and power supply all contained within a single 27-inch screen. The product will retail from around £1,250 and was announced to the public at the HP Global Partner conference held earlier this month in Las Vegas.
HP said the all-in-one nature of the workstation was designed in response to customer feedback which requested more desk space without compromising on performance. Specifically made for creative professionals, the workstation is capable of video editing, architectural design and 3-D component creation.
The American firm compared the new Z1 to its premier Z800 product, which is the company's most powerful tower-based workstation. However, with the Z1 HP has managed to combine the processor, cooling equipment and memory units into the all-in-one design.
Jim Zafarana, general manager of HP's workstation business, said the Z1 delivers professional quality and a high level of power without the need for a tower.
