HP's TouchPad fire sale on eBay
The 16GB HP TouchPad, which was offered by the company at a reduced price of $99 (£63) on the online auction site eBay, managed to sell out within minutes on December 11.
The company announced a fire sale of its webOS-based tablet last week, with the price of the 32GB model being slashed to $149 (£95).
The deal attracted massive interest from bargain-hunters who were eager to get hold of the tablet.
HP's announcement that it will offer the webOS software to the open source community to help improve applications and web services for the next generation of devices could have boosted demand for the tablet.
