HP set to release Palm Pre 2 phone

The unlocked version of the Palm Pre 2 smartphone will soon be sold directly to customers by Hewlett-Packard.

The smartphone is equipped with the webOS 2.0 mobile operating system and a 1GHz processor.

Initially, the unlocked device will be supplied to webOS developers, but later it will be made available to customers.

According to the technology giant, many developers can buy the smartphone at heavily discounted prices.

HP acquired Palm - a smartphone manufacturer - earlier in the year, and the Palm Pre 2 is the first Palm phone to be released by the company after the takeover.

The phone will feature a 5MP camera and offer support to Adobe Flash 10.1 and QuickOffice Connect.
