HP to collaborate with Toshiba

Hewlett Packard has announced its collaboration with Toshiba for its managed print services (MPS), which will give customers a wider range of devices to choose from.

The company, which revealed the agreement at the HP Innovation Summit at Singapore, hopes this will allow important high-volume clients to choose from various Toshiba multifunctional machines.

For its MPS extension, HP revealed a new FutureSmart firmware and Open Extensibility Platform (OXP), which will enable solution associates to benefit HP's printers and printing procedures. HP printers manufactured from 2005 onwards can make use of the OXP.

HP had a similar partnership with Canon in 2009, whereby Canon provided laser parts to the company.

The collaboration of HP and Toshiba is only Asia-Pacific centred.

Pierre Mirlesse, vice president for managed print enterprise group, HP, said: "We are pleased and proud with this new partnership as it will enable HP to continue its key position in the MPS space in enterprise."
