Hewlett-Packard has announced the launch of its first-ever touch-screen business laptop.
The firm made the move to roll out the EliteBook 2740p after a history of touch screen innovation, following the release its TouchSmart and Envy consumer lines.
However, the company said that the EliteBook announcement would not kick-start the launch of further touch-screen business laptops.
Officials said that HP will wait and see how well the technology does before making any moves to add touch-screens to models by alternative business range ProBook.
Company spokesman Mike Hockey said that business customers were more interested in performance than touch-screen features.
The EliteBook 2740p is a convertible tablet PC with a 12.1-inch touch-screen. It employs Intel's latest standard voltage and low voltage Core processors and a six-cell battery. it will retail for $1,599 (£1,070).
