Impika will pull the wraps off its new range of 'offset class' inkjet printers at the Ipex Birmingham show next month.
The iPress 2400 has been seen as a challenger to Fujifilm's JetPress 720 and Dainippon Screen's TruePress JetSX.
According to the industrial inkjet specialist, its latest product comes with a print speed of more than 6,000sph at 1200x1200dpi and more than 3,000sph at 2,400dpi.
The iPress takes the Screen approach to B2 with a maximum width of 520mm, while it sports a 28in printhead - which has been developed in collaboration with electronics firm Panasonic.
Chief executive Paul Morgavi said: "By eliminating pre-press functions as well as streamlining registry adjustments we are offering printers a range of new opportunities for growth in bespoke services as well as low-cost short and medium print runs.
"The iPress 2400 represents for us a first step in our strategy to enter the offset print market."
The iPress will be shown with finishing equipment from Hunkeler. Meanwhile, Impika is aiming at prospectus, brochure, magazine, catalogue, label and flexible packaging work with the iPress 2400.
