Law firms in the UK are to set public targets for carbon emission reductions, as part of a new climate change initiative.
The Law Society's Legal Sector Alliance (LSA) group announced that its members have agreed to adopt and pursue challenging emissions reduction targets to drive change in the legal sector.
The implementation of targets has been agreed by LSA's 20 executive members, which include Simmons & Simmons and Norton Rose.
Other members will be setting public targets for emission reductions in the coming months.
Some 215 members of the LSA have publicly committed to calculate their organisations' carbon footprint.
A spokeswoman for the Law Society told BusinessGreen: "The new initiative will encourage members to now set public targets for their emission reductions."
