Managed print services (MPS) are under the spotlight at this year's Xerox Partner Summit in Texas.
Print representatives are discussing the potential of MPS in transforming businesses both in the short-term and in the long-run.
Among the key issues preventing the wider acceptance of MPS is a failure of managed service providers and value added resellers to look beyond conventional server, desktop, network and mobile solutions.
Makers of printing equipment are also more expansive about their direct sales than channel MPS programmes, experts believe.
Within the MSPmentor 100 list of the world's best managed service providers, just a fifth offer MPS.
At the San Antonio summit, which has been dubbed Fusion 2011, managed print providers will elaborate on how vendors can take advantage of the services even amid the rapid growth in cloud computing.
