Experts have called for more effective measures to help British firms reduce their energy costs.
Peter Job, chief executive officer at Cambridge-based Intergence Systems, said that having a prudent system in place enables firms to reduce between 15 and 20% of their energy across their network even while cutting their carbon footprint.
Mr Job said such measures are required if firms are to comply with the Government's carbon reduction commitments.
"People don't realise that very often, turning up the air conditioning to a higher level actually saves power," he said.
Firms need to take a closer look at the way they are using IT assets in an effort to become more environmentally friendly, said Andrew Boddington, director of marketing at Return on IT.
