Open Xerox 'virtual lab' launched

A new "virtual research lab" is offering people the chance to experiment with the latest technologies and innovations Xerox is working on.

The company hopes that its Open Xerox platform will be utilised by customers to trial products and applications in the making.

Feedback from end-users and new ideas provided by them will be key to strengthening research at Xerox, said Dan Smith, general manager for integrated marketing, Middle East and Africa.

He said: "At Xerox we encourage change, push the limits of the unknown, and explore new approaches to innovation.

"Collaboration with users across the globe brings fresh ideas, diverse opinions and expertise that enable game-changing innovations for our customers."

The online portal is open to everyone, from "customers and fellow technology experts to potential partners", Mr Smith added.

Registered users will be able to access a wide range of services and technologies they can test even for third-party applications.

Open Xerox has been developed by teams at Xerox research centres in Webster and Palo Alto and in Europe.
