Print manager set for Xerox presses

Adobe's PDF Print Engine (APPE) has been launched for Xerox's new colour 800/1000 presses.

Working models of the systems, driven by the Xerox EX Print Server, powered in turn by EFI Fiery and Xerox's FreeFlow Print Server, were showcased on the Xerox stand at last week's On Demand event, held in Philadelphia.

The new presses, printing at 80 and 100 pages-per-minute respectively, produce high definition image quality on a wide range of stock. They also include an optional clear dry ink station to amplify full-colour jobs.

APPE uses the same imaging technologies as industry-leading Adobe applications, streamlining the hand-off between job creator and printer.

The hardware/software combination allows for faster jobs, accurate rendering of complex designs and a more efficient printing process, Xerox has said.

The Xerox EX Print Server is available immediately, with the FreeFlow Print Server to follow in June.
