Printing company completes merger

Printer SCR Envelopes has completed a merger deal with Tower Supplies, creating a new firm with 60 staff and increased turnover of £10 million.

The agreement will see SCR expand its main site and production facility in Leeds.

Tower Supplies, which is owned by Europe's largest specialist envelope printing firm, De Vroede, will help expand the number of operational printing presses to 12, which will run on double-day shifts, producing more than 500m envelopes annually.

Steve Allott, managing director of SCR Envelopes, said: "SCR and Tower have similar objectives, business values, target markets and expertise, so a merger made economic and commercial sense.

"The merger strengthens our position in the marketplace and will enable us to expand our innovative, cost effective solutions, while delivering an even higher level of quality and customer service."

Hans Lambrechts, financial and commercial director at De Vroede, added: "The De Vroede Group has expertise across Europe and the merger between SCR and Tower in the UK gives us an increased presence in the market."
