Ricoh gives printing waste warning

A leading printing firm has revealed that many companies are missing opportunities to manage the amount of waste they generate through printing by not embracing simple document governance.

Research by Ricoh found that most companies were not auditing or addressing the environmental aspects of their printing practices, leading to excessive paper waste.

The company concluded that through simple document governance measures, companies can embrace their green credentials and cut the amount of waste they generate by auditing employee usage and bolstering company policy concerning the recycling of paper and toner.

Although recycling levels for most companies have improved, studies show that most lack proper governance over documents being created in the first place.

Nearly a third of those studied said their employees did as they wanted when it came to things like two-sided printing, and that many were unaware of their own company's policies when it came to recycling paper and toner.
