The city of Riverside in California is partnering with Xerox in an effort to cut costs.
Riverside has added Xerox managed print services (MPS) across its departments; cutting costs by nearly 20% and reducing the amount of time employees spend on print-related activities.
The city authority believes the move will enable it to invest more time and resources towards providing better services for its citizens.
Riverside's five-year Enterprise Print Services contract with Xerox means that the printer-manufacturer will manage the way documents are printed, shared and updated across the city's departments.
The print governance features from Xerox include computer screen pop-ups that direct print jobs from employees to the most cost-effective and energy-efficient machine.
Steve Reneker, chief information officer, Riverside, said: "The breadth of services and technology from Xerox gives us the right tools to run a more efficient city.
"As a result of these cost and productivity savings, we can sharpen our focus on providing citizens with services that make Riverside a great city."
Riverside had previously also partnered with Xerox subsidiary Affiliated Computer Services (ACS) to advance the city's technology.
