A former top US government official has been elected to the Xerox board of directors.
Sara Martinez Tucker, who will join the board next month, was previously an under secretary in the US Department of Education.
She served in the government position for two years until December 2008 after being nominated for the role by President George W Bush.
The 57-year-old has a wealth of experience, having headed the Hispanic Scholarship Fund for nine years and held a senior executive position at AT&T for 16 years.
She is currently on the board of American Electric Power and the University of Notre Dame.
Ms Tucker is also a member of the External Advisory Council of retail giant Wal-Mart.
Xerox boss Ursula Burns said of her appointment: "Sara brings to our board impressive credentials and experience as an accomplished leader. Her success in both the public and private sectors will greatly benefit Xerox and our shareholders."
