A new report from research firm IDC has found that the printer and copier market has rebounded to a new high since its decline in the global recession.
According to the firm, the market grew by 7% in the final three months of 2010 compared with the same period 12 months earlier.
Multifunction printers performed strongly, rising four points to a 67% market share, as more people look to use multiple home or office devices in one box.
Inkjet printers also enjoyed success in the final quarter of the year, with 24.5 million units being shipped worldwide in the three-month period. Meanwhile, there were 11 million laser printers shipped across the world in the same period.
The report showed that there was a surge in demand for printers in Latin America. The printer and copier market grew 35% in the final quarter of 2010, while there was also healthy demand in Eastern Europe, where the market grew by 25%.
