UCLH announces deal with Xerox

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) will be helped by Xerox to take control of its printing processes and costs, as part of a seven-year agreement.

The Enterprise Print Services contract signed between Xerox managed print services and UCLH is expected to help the Trust reduce costs by £1.2m.

The contract will see UCLH managing just one supplier, in Xerox, rather than its previous print vendor total of 53.

The Trust will now have 300 networked, multi-functional devices and 1,100 printers in place of some 3,000 printers and more than 100 copiers and fax machines.

The Trust can benefit from information on devices, document printing and associated costs that it will receive from Xerox.

The deal, which forms part of a larger project by Logica that is aimed at helping UCLH have an intelligent back-office infrastructure, will also help the Trust solve problems with its devices.

James Thomas, ICT director for UCLH, said: "We're using this project to help change behaviours across the Trust, and, as a result, increase back-office efficiency and achieve our cost-saving targets."
