Xerox has announced news on its first production inkjet system at a media conference in London, as well as revealing new customer deals.
Eric Armour, president of Xerox's Global Business Group, told the IPEX Media summit about the company's inkjet proposals.
"The strategy behind adding inkjet to the Xerox portfolio is comparable to how automobile manufacturers offer cars powered by gas, diesel or electricity -- each meets a different performance standard," he said.
"We delivered breakthrough toner-based colour continuous feed solutions allowing new levels of cost, image quality and speed for transpromotional applications. Our new offering will meet similar requirements for those looking for an inkjet option."
Xerox also displayed improvements to existing systems, such as adding duplex applications up to 200 gsm and heavyweight media compatibility to the black and white Xerox 650/1300 systems.
New systems called the FreeFlow Print Server 7 and ImageSmooth Technology give superior quality without slowing down printing speeds.
Customers visited IPEX to explain how Xerox technology and services had boosted their business revenues, and US firm Cathedral Corporation said: "We evaluated a number of technology options, including the high-speed inkjet devices that are available today. The image quality of the Xerox 980 system was far superior; our decision was easy."
