Xerox has launched a scheme with Close the Loop whereby customers can return their printing supplies for recycling with greater ease.
The programme, which is aimed at reducing the amount of effort it takes customers to return toners and other supplies to Xerox, will see the company making a move for the good of the environment.
Under the scheme, Xerox's customers will return their used supplies to Close the Loop, which will then manage the recycling systems.
Through a material separation process, second-hand products will be kept aside for reuse in new printer cartridges and other goods.
To make it simpler for customers to send their supplies, a collection box will be available. Once the box is full, customers have to print a no-cost shipping label to send it to Close the Loop.
Boxes can be ordered via the return and recycling website for Xerox.
Patricia Calkins, vice president, Xerox, Sustainability, Environment, Health & Safety, said: "During the past 12 years, our collaboration with customers has kept more than 143 million pounds of cartridges, bottles and waste toner out of landfills.
"As we continue to make it easier for customers to participate in our remanufacturing, reuse and recycling efforts, we get closer and closer to our ultimate goal of zero waste."
