Xerox is planning to invest an additional $1 million over the next four years as part of its joint venture with The Nature Conservancy.
The investment, a part of the second phase of the Forest Conservation project launched in October 2006, is aimed at promoting forest conservation and sustainable forest management worldwide.
The firm had invested an initial $1 million for the first phase which focused on the conservation of Boreal forest in Canada and backed the launch of the Canadian Boreal Data Center in order to enhance the global resources monitoring, management and conservation planning.
The joint venture also supports HCV [High Conservation Value], which aims to find habitat priority.
Bill Ginn, Xerox's chief conservation officer, said: "We are happy that our work can contribute to the forest conservation preventing the forest loss and degradation which may result in a 15% green house gas emission."
He added that Xerox is leading the way when it comes to nature conservation.
It is expected that the latest venture is going to make greater impact than similar forest conservation projects.
