Xerox has launched a return and recycling programme that will make it easier for customers to give back used-up products, while allowing the company to collect for reuse.
Under the programme, customers will be offered more options to return supplies such as ink cartridges and toner bottles.
Xerox will collaborate with imaging supplies recycler Close the Loop for the scheme. While Close the Loop will collect what customers give, it will also organise the recycling work for Xerox using material separation - a process whereby already used components will be picked out for reinstallation in cartridges and other devices.
The scheme is similar to Xerox's Eco Box in Europe, and will let customers in the United States return many used items in a collection box for free. These will then be sent to Close the Loop for processing.
By going to the www.xerox.com/gwa website, customers can also learn about the variety of ways in which they can return their supplies.
Patricia Calkins, vice president, Sustainability, Environment, Health & Safety, said: "As we continue to make it easier for customers to participate in our remanufacturing, reuse and recycling efforts, we get closer and closer to our ultimate goal of zero waste."
