Xerox has launched a new duplex colour network scanner, which could be particularly helpful for small to medium workgroups and offices.
The DocuMate 3920 is capable of scanning documents at 20 pages per minute or 14 images per minute in duplex.
Priced at $1,495 (£946), the scanner comes with a 7-inch colour LCD touch screen, which clearly displays all operation modes.
With the help of a Web page configuration and a standard Ethernet connection, the device offers secure multi-user access and easy administration.
It is equipped with flatbed and 50-page automatic document feeder (ADF), which will enable users to scan both sides of a document to e-mail, a network folder, fax recipient, FTP location or printer.
The Xerox DocuMate 3920 supports LDAP (lightweight directory access protocol) for direct access to Microsoft Exchange Server email directories, together with SMTP server support.
This allows small firms, which do not have elaborate Exchange servers or large IT departments, to programme their scan-to-email with internet and ISP based mail services.
