Xerox press helps firm cut costs
An Exeter-based firm has saved thousands of pounds in production costs after installing a state-of-the-art Xerox digital press.
William Pollard & Co has spent around £355,000 to replace its litho print system with a Xerox iGen4 press.
It has also embraced Xerox's FreeFlow workflow solution and linked the process and output manager tools to the web-based software platform Pollards Direct.
The digital press is now being used to manage printing of weighbridge tickets - an area the company specialises in - more efficiently and at lower costs.
The family-owned firm, which has been operating for more than two centuries, said the investment underscored its strategy of keeping up with the advances in printing technology.
Deputy managing director Dennis Mason said: "Pollard's expertise in this area is significant - we've produced weighbridge tickets for some 50 years, but we're not stuck in old ways.
"Working with Xerox to re-engineer the production process has permitted us to realise some £50,000 per annum savings in production costs."
