Xerox remains MPS market leader

Xerox has retained its position as the global leader in managed print services (MPS), capturing 48.5% of the market share last year, a new report shows.

The worldwide market for MPS - services that help firms cut their printing costs - grew 8.1% in 2009, generating overall revenues of $7.78 billion (£4.9 billion), according to a report by IDC.

Xerox, which was the first to offer the solutions by way of its Enterprise Print Services, has powered ahead of its rivals.

Michael Orasin, research manager at IDC, said: "Xerox's sizeable market share lead can be attributed to its efforts in extending traditional managed print services across the enterprise to include not only the office, but in-house production print and mobile worker support."

The IDC report says firms that have a well managed MPS programme can reduce their print infrastructure costs by up to 30%, in addition to improving productivity, sustainability and ensuring compliance.

Xerox's EPS offers document management solutions across a company's network, from the office to the in-house print centre to the virtual workplace.
