Xerox to expand its MPS portfolio

Xerox has announced plans to launch an open platform to help offer its managed print services (MPS) to more small and medium-sized enterprises in Europe.

Using the new platform, the company's partners can create their own MPS offerings that include Xerox MPS and even add technologies developed by other vendors.

The platform was introduced by Darren Cassidy, the firm's vice president of global and partner print services, at the Xerox Channel Congress in London.

According to Mr Cassidy, through the platform the APIs will be offered to partners to integrate Xerox MPS functionality with their services.

He said: "We are within a few days of launching the partner portal and web site that will open it all up fully. This is a huge change. Analysts said they did not think we would really open up our environment in this way - but we have done it. And we are very happy about it."

The move forms part of Xerox's wider strategy to expand its MPS portfolio and offer its services to more organisations and boost revenues.
