Xerox waterless inkjet system out

Xerox has unveiled a new machine that it claims is the first high-speed waterless inkjet system in the world.

The latest system is specifically designed for printers who do high-volume and high-value jobs. It promises "vivid" image quality on low-cost papers.

Eric Armour, president of Xerox Graphic Communications Business Group, said: "Xerox's Production Inkjet System cuts through the barriers - cost, quality and reliability - that stood in the way of producing massive numbers of custom print jobs.

"Print providers can now confidently shift their focus from the production process to selling applications that drive business."

For the benefit of the high-speed production market, the firm has come up with a new granulated, resin-based ink formulation. It eliminates water to help print "vibrant and consistent colour" on low-cost.

The latest technology by Xerox is expected to help cut costs as well as reduce the requirement for warehousing pre-printed materials.

Using the waterless inkjet system, pages can be produced quickly and reliably, the company added.
