Changing Times, Changing Expectations
The role of IT has shifted. It is no longer just about providing devices, but about delivering digital transformation that impacts productivity, employee satisfaction, and ultimately business performance.
With hybrid working now embedded into daily life and AI delivering rapid, actionable insights, the pace of change is accelerating. The opportunity is huge: a workforce that is happier, more productive, and better engaged.
At Xeretec, we share HP’s vision for the HP Workforce Experience Platform (WXP), a solution designed to put employee wellbeing and productivity at the centre of technology strategy. It is about creating an environment where technology enables people to do their best work. We were proud to be part of the global beta programme for WXP, giving us early access and deep insight into the platform’s capabilities and helping shape its development alongside HP.
The Productivity Gap and the Opportunity
There is a challenge to address. Studies reveal a worrying disconnect between employees and their technology environment. In fact, 74% of workers say their workplace does not provide the equipment, technology, or space needed to be successful. Additionally, 47% of employees don’t call IT when experiencing issues that impact their work (Deloitte), while 34% report living with ongoing problems that the service desk is unable to fix (Forrester).
These figures underscore a critical productivity gap. Only 27% of employees have a healthy relationship with their work environment, leaving 73% feeling they lack the right tools and technology to perform at their best. For IT leaders, this is both a priority and an opportunity: to turn these insights into actionable solutions that improve everyday work life.
HP’s own WXP deployments show the potential to give employees back 10% of their time, which equates to around four hours per week through automation and reduced friction. Satisfaction rates can also improve by 70% through proactive IT support and personalised device management.
Digital Transformation That Delivers Results
HP’s ambition has always been clear: to be the world’s most productive, secure, and sustainable technology company. For organisations we work with, WXP plays a key role in refreshing and modernising infrastructure so it works better for both IT and end users. Using AI-driven analytics, the platform personalises technology experiences for each employee. This reduces digital friction so that technology “just works” without users needing to think about it.
Several advanced features enable this transformation. WXP uses persona-based recommendations, where AI analyses how individual employees use their devices and suggests best-fit technology for their specific roles, moving away from outdated one-size-fits-all IT strategies. IT admins can leverage natural language querying, powered by a large language model, to ask simple questions like “Which devices need storage upgrades?” or “What is the battery health in the marketing team?” and receive instant advice and recommendations.
The platform offers cross-platform visibility, monitoring computers, peripherals, printers, and collaboration tools across multiple operating systems and device manufacturers. Using smart lifecycle planning, WXP applies predictive analytics to recommend timely device upgrades, optimising refresh cycles based on real usage data rather than fixed schedules.
Employee satisfaction is measured continuously through employee sentiment tracking with built-in pop up pulse survey notifications. These surveys help organisations improve digital experiences for distributed teams. WXP also links sentiment data to system performance, identifying trends like slow boot times or connectivity issues and suggesting targeted improvements to enhance productivity.
Security and support are streamlined through automated support and security features that reduce manual helpdesk ticketing and integrate HP Wolf Security to strengthen endpoint protection. Enhanced collaboration tools, following HP’s acquisition of Vyopta, provide advanced video conferencing analytics to improve meeting experiences and monitor user adoption.
For IT management, WXP delivers unified multi-vendor support, integrating seamlessly with platforms like Microsoft Power BI, ServiceNow, and Tableau to enable consistent reporting and simplified management. The platform also automates critical maintenance tasks with automated system updates for drivers and BIOS, reducing manual workloads and delivering significant cost savings.
As HP’s Scott Hallworth, Chief Data and Analytics Officer, puts it: “AI is actually embedded in our products: whether it’s our printers, our PCs, or our video conferencing solutions. We’re leveraging our data to help people become more efficient and more effective.”
Why Xeretec Recommends HP Workforce Experience Platform
We see three core benefits of WXP for UK organisations. First of all, it improves the ease of technology by proactively resolving IT issues and streamlining processes, reducing digital friction. Second, it raises productivity and satisfaction by ensuring employees have the right tools for their role and that technology works without interruption. And third, it optimises device management by using data-driven refresh cycles to replace devices when needed, avoiding wasteful time-based schedules.
From Data to Action: How WXP Works
The HP Workforce Experience Platform combines real-time telemetry and AI analytics to monitor device health, usage patterns, and user sentiment. This data enables IT teams to identify digital friction before it impacts performance, assign dynamic user personas for tailored device and software provision, and automate maintenance and updates to reduce costly manual interventions. It also captures sentiment feedback through pulse surveys to guide future improvements.
Moving IT from Managing to Leading
When repetitive IT issues are replaced with proactive, personalised technology experiences, the impact is both measurable and human. Employees who gain back even a few hours each week can reinvest that time in strategic, creative, or customer-focused work. IT teams move from firefighting problems to leading digital innovation.
The result is happier, more engaged employees, better business outcomes, and a culture where technology enables growth rather than getting in the way.
